F.A.Q.
The choice of a fiscal data recorder depends on a number of receipts you need to create for the shift, customer flows, and whether your business sells excisable products (alcohol, tobacco).
You may take into account the following characteristics:
- price;
- width of the receipt tape;
- printing speed;
- receipt tape auto-cutting;
- dimensions;
- support for wired and wireless interfaces;
- software.
Simple recorders with a minimum of features and low productivity are cheaper. The most expensive are those that can operate quickly and print more than 200 receipts per shift.
For a startup business, a small device size and quick tape replacement are the most important characteristics. Productivity of up to 50 receipts per day would be enough.
Businesses with high customer flows should consider models that can create up to 200 receipts per day. They're usually small-sized devices with basic features (without add-ons).
Businesses with a large number of customers should purchase a model with a capacity of more than 200 receipts per shift. Usually they have everything you need for fast servicing: auto-cutting, high-speed printing of 250-300 mm/s, and quick tape replacement. There're several installment options: vertically on the wall or horizontally on the table.
The data recorders have no display and no keyboard. In fact, they're just printers with a fiscal storage drive. This means that they can only be used in conjunction with a computer or tablet where a sales program is installed.
Activities that involve accepting payments for products and services from customers:
- small and specialized stores: clothes, shoes, groceries, household goods, flowers;
- eating establishments: coffee shops, restaurants, bakeries, pastry shops;
- service-type businesses: hairdressing salons, sports clubs, repair shops, etc.
Any business that accepts payments from customers should issue receipts. It also needs to purchase a sales register and enter into a contract with a fiscal data operator (OFD). This enables you to submit information to the Tax Service online at the time of making a transaction.
A fiscal data recorder is a type of sales equipment which is subject to the same requirements as any other. When you use it, sending information to the Tax Service via an OFD is required.
It should also include a sales register for storing transaction details. According to the updated law, printers must print receipts with a QR code.
For online sales registers and terminals, tape width is 44, 58, and 80 mm. For POS systems and recorders, it can be 37, 40, 44 58, 69, 76, or 80 mm.
